Ed & Gail

Ed Cottrell  began dancing some 12 years ago. Like many, he initially studied the various ballroom disciplines including waltz, foxtrot, cha cha, and rumba, later gravitating to hustle, country, and the various forms of swing. West coast swing soon became his love.

Over the past several years, he has instructed at several local dance studios and served as dance instructor for Fairfax County Parks Authority. He offers private, semi-private, and group lessons at his home-based studio located in Herndon, VA, where he has helped many students with choreography and wedding dance preparation. Over the past several years he has been teaching at the Colvin Run Historic Community Hall. He is currently the instructor of Colvin Run’s Tuesday night dances, as well as two of the Colvin Run Citizens’ Association’s weekend dance events.

Ed prides himself on offering entry-level instruction for novice dancers who are just getting started and are seeking a relaxed, comfortable and fun environment where they can enjoy meeting people, learning, and socializing with fellow beginner dancers. His weekly and monthly dances are well attended by many singles, with several of the local singles groups regularly in attendance.

In addition to instructing, Ed currently serves on the board of Directors for the Colvin Run Citizens’ Association and is the resident DJ at the weekly Tuesday dances as well as for the weekend dances on the second and fourth Saturdays.

Should you have any questions, or if you are interested in private or semi-private or group classes, you can contact Ed at EdCottrell@macp.org or 703-435-5620.
