Ed And Gail

Ed Cottrell and Gail Crum first met at a dance some 12 years ago, and have been dancing together ever since. Like many, they initially studied the various ballroom disciplines including waltz, foxtrot, cha cha, and rumba, later gravitating to hustle, country, and the various forms of swing. West coast swing soon became their first love.

Over the past several years, they have instructed at several local dance studios and have served as dance instructors for Fairfax County Parks Authority. They offer private, semi-private, and group lessons at their home-based studio, located in Herndon, VA, where they have helped many students with choreography and wedding dance preparation. More recently, for the past four years they have been teaching at the Colvin Run Historic Dance Hall, located just west of the Tyson’s Corner area in Great Falls, VA. They are currently the instructors and promoters of Colvin Run’s weekly Tuesday dance, as well as 2nd and 4th weekend dance events.

Gail and Ed pride themselves on specializing in offering entry level instruction for novice dancers who are just getting started and are seeking a relaxed, comfortable and fun environment where they can enjoy meeting people, learning, and socializing with fellow beginner dancers. Their weekly and monthly dances are always well attended by many singles, with several of the local singles groups regularly in attendance.

In addition to instructing, Ed currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Colvin Run Citizens’ Association and is the resident DJ at the weekly Tuesday dance as well as for the weekend dances on the second and fourth Saturdays.
